First Ever Magic Trick Reveal

Hi there Views have been pretty low so for you Loyal viewers i am going to reveal a magic trick just for you.

Mind Reading Card Trick
Difficulty 1 out of 10

Your spectator freely chooses a card memorizes it and the magician cuts it into the deck the magician then does a few more convincing cuts. After these fair cuts the magician asked the spectator to focus on his card and imagine it in there mind as the magician goes though the cards he gets a psychic "vibe" quickly selects a card from the pack and slowly turns it over and it is the card the spectator choose.

This is a very simple but very effective card trick. This trick is based on your acting abilities more than anything else as it requires no sleight of hand.

Method

Before you start the trick look at the bottom card and memorize it will say its the 2 of spades.

You then let the spectator pick any card they want from the deck.(4 of hearts)

You tell the spectator to memorize there card while you do this cut the top of the deck off and grab the bottom half.

Let the Spectator place there card on the top half of the deck.
place the bottom half on top of there card.

Now You have just placed the 2 of spades on top of the spectators 4 of hearts.

You can then cut the deck 2 or 3 times because the chances of you cutting exactly in between the 2 of spades and 4 of hearts is nearly impossible.

After you have cut the card look through them and tell your spectator to focus on there card. Look for your 2 spades and the card below it will be there selected card 4 of hearts. This is were the crazy acting comes into play watch professional mentalist and you will see that most if not all will do something funny before they reveal there feat!

Well there you have our first ever card magic trick revealed!

As always with Criss Angel I do not believe i could have seen him do this even if I was there because it seems like the "audience" was over acting a bit. I have my theories on how its done but I will not reveal anything hear so have fun with figuring out this puzzle the link to the video is right here.

Review on Jay Sankey's Revolutionary Coin Magic

Today I am going to review Jay Sankey's Revolutionary Coin Magic DVD available here http://www.sankeymagic.com/detail.aspx?ID=48146

Revolutionary Coin Magic 2.0
4 out of 5

This is a great Magic DVD from one of my favorite Magicians Jay Sankey. He is a creative Magical genius and just a bit crazy but I've found that generally that's a good thing when it comes to magic. This DVD Has many little known or completely original sleights and Magic tricks. The effects in this DVD can be very difficult even for the magic veteran so i wouldn't recommend this for a beginner. If you are looking to have a coin routine a close up act then you should pick up this DVD. If your working a walk around Magic gig you can't beat some of these impromptu Magic coin across and vanish appearance routines.

Thanks for reading and remember to tell everyone you know where they can find Magic News. Magic Reviews, Magic tricks and more.

On May 8, 1993, the IBM Board of Directors approved the following Code of Ethics jointly with the Society of American Magicians. This was the result of a cooperative effort to work together for the betterment of magic. All members of the International Brotherhood of Magicians agree to:

Review on the Ellusionist Magic Trick Stigmata

Ellusionts Magic Review on Stigmata By Wayne Houchin

3 out of 5

Hi there Today i am going to review The Magic Effect Stigmata

Let me start out by saying this is a very good Magic Trick but there are a few things that knocked this Magic Trick down from 4 out 5.

For those of you who do not know what Stigmata is the spectator thinks of a number, picks a card or writes a name and it appears as a red rash on your arm.

The first and most obvious problem is the outrageous price. This single Magic DVD cost $30 bucks and that before shipping and handling! you could end up spending 35 to 40 dollars.

The second problem is that even though the price is insane your only getting one Magic trick! A good Magic trick but one Magic trick none the less.

The DVD is very good quality and quite entertaining but it was definitely not worth $40. Wayne Houchin is a fantastic magician and teaches the magic trick very well so that counts for about 10 to 15 dollars.
This magic trick is impromptu and he also teaches the most professionally used card force to this day the classic force.
I thank if the price wasn't so ridiculous or there where like 5 to ten magic tricks on one DVD then this would be a 4 out of 5 or a 5 out of 5 but if you have the cash pick up this fantastic Magic Illusion it will be worth it.

Great Magic Books For Beginners & Pros!

Hi there this is Tyler again! My Blog is just getting started so the articles are not at there best so i thought while you wait i would give you a list of books that are great to read!

First i give your four books that are great for Beginners
(Remember buy only one of these books at a time learn the tricks you like, master them and then consider another book.)

The Practical Encyclopedia of Magic by, Nicholas Einhorn
5 out of 5

This Book is the first book i ever got about magic and it is still one of my favorites. It touches on ever type of magic and gives over 1000 color photos to teach you over 120 tricks. It teaches its tricks from easier to progressively harder so it actually improves your skills as you go through. This is one of those books that you can open to any page and you will be at something great. If your a beginner i can not recommend this enough and if your a Professional you already know that a beginner book is sometimes the best book when it comes to finding great effects to preform(Woo hoo Patter& misdirection!).

Magical Illusion Conjuring Tricks Amazing Puzzles & Stunts by, Nicholas Einhorn
3 out of 5

This book was written by the same author of The Practical Encyclopedia of Magic but this book did not hit on the magic as much. It was definitely entertaining have great "tricks" and i stress tricks because they are mostly pranks or puzzles. There are a few gems in this book as there are in most magic books but just not enough. Many of effects require a lot of set up and props that you have to make. So i took off one point for not enough effects and i took off another for set up and props giving us a grand total of 3 out of 5. For beginners I would say that the hobbyist magician would definitely enjoy this but if your working towards having a job in magic this book is not a must. Professionals might want to pick this up though because even though the effects themselves are not that good the ideas can be applied to other things to make your creative juices start flowing.

Magic For Dummies by David Pogue
5 out of 5

Don't be thrown by the title this book is great! This book is actually a universal book meaning that both Professional and Beginner alike can get the same amount of benefits from this book. It has sections for most types of magic and over 90 effects that are easy to preform complete with Photos, Patter and Presentation tips for every effects! This book gets it references from many Professional Magicians so you know these tricks will be worth your time. This is a book that is a must have for both Beginner and Professional alike.

Complete Course in Magic by, Mark Wilson
4 out of 5

Now hold! before you get angry that i gave this 4 out of 5 let me explain myself! This is a GREAT! and i mean GREAT book. It has hundreds of the professional and effective effects that touch on every type of magic. Now the only reason i marked this down was for the beginner its a little much, many of the effects are for the professional not as much the beginner. It contains effects with coin shells and double back cards things that many beginner don't even know what they are let alone how to use them. I would call this book the "bridge" between beginner magic and professional magic. If your a beginner i would say wait and buy this book when you feel that you have learned every thing you can from books like the ones above and mastered many of the effects in them. If your a Professional pick this book up it has great effects that I guarantee you will use.

Now for the Professional Section. First i must state what i mean by professional because technically i am using the word incorrectly. Professional technically means you do magic as your only source of income. What i mean by professional is some one who is proficient in magic enough that you can use it as a source of income like birthday parties, church shows or even stage shows. Now that we have that out of the way lets begin with the reviews.

Modern Coin Magic by J.B. Bobo
4 out of 5
This book is so good for the professional close up magician because for about $10.00 you get 236 coin effects and 116 coin sleights. Many of the effects and sleights are very difficult but you will find quite a few that you can use right away. This book is a little dated so the language used is sometimes difficult to understand as is the pictures as well, but were magicians we love a good challenge right? It takes coin magic to a new level before reading this book i would never have dreamed you could write an entire chapter on coin magic FOR STAGE MAGIC! That right there should give you an idea on how many creative things there are in this book. This book is definitely your best "Bang for your Buck" book i have seen in a while.

13 steps to Mentalism By, Tony Corinda
5 out of 5

This book is sometimes called the bible of mentalism and for good reason. It is all you need to make people think you a true mind reader. I truly believe that you could by this book and not need another mentalism book and still be a professional mentalist. It has hundreds of the tricks of the trade every thing from book test to cold readings. The language is again a bit dated and it is almost all text with very few pictures to teach you. This book is hard to find but any good magic store should have it and you can find it online i got mine for $25.00 so its but it has about as many effects and sleights as bobo I gave it a 5 out of 5 because it is one of the few books you can buy on mentalism with everything you will need.

Practical Mental Magic by, Theodore Annemann
3 out of 5

This Book was supposed to be like the modern day 13 steps but unfortunately they failed to see the 13 steps is timeless! It has a quiet a few tricks that are good but nothing like what you see in the the 13 steps. Ironically most of the "Practical" mental magic effects are not that practical. They are in need of set up and long preparations and are many times hard to pull off in real life.
If your planing of being a mentalist or having a mentalism act i would make sure I read the 13 steps and then pick up this book.

Beyond Secrets by, Jay Sankey
5 out of 5

Legend tells that when an martial artist had finally master his art he was given a scroll that symbolized his success when the martial artist opened he found it was blank which symbolized a new beginning, that now he had reached the peak of what his master could teach him now he must go and create new things and become a better master than his own. That is how i feel about this book it is the blank scroll. I might go as far as to say I have learned more from this book than any other book on magic. It doesn't teach you any a effects so that speaks for itself right there. You can find it at sankey magic . com

The Different Types of Magic

Hi there this is Tyler again here to let you be "in the know" when it comes to magic terms.

Today i will discuss the 4 different types of magic. (There is much controversy on the types of magic but i will let you know what i personally refer to the types of magic.

close up magic: Close up magic is magic performed with smaller objects for a smaller group 1-10 people this includes card tricks, coin tricks and any thing performed up close. This is some times called "street" magic but that term was just used to make a T.V. magician's special look like he was doing something different.(No offense Blaine your magic is great)

Parlor Magic: These are tricks performed for a slightly larger audience than close up the size is 15- 50 people. This can be a birthday parties, restaurant shows etc. These generally use large and shiny object like sponge balls, rope and linking rings.

Stage Magic: Now where talking! This is the big time magic. This is what David Copperfield and Lance Burton do. These are huge shows with elaborate set up and fancy tricks which are performed on a stage or theater. Audience size ranges from 300- 1000's. These include tricks like sawing a lady in half, human vanishes and appearances, fire and animal tricks.

Mentalism: This is the odd ball of the family of magic. Many magicians consider mentalism to not be a type of magic but a different thing entirely. This ranges from showing your mental prowess to mind reading. audience size can range anywhere from 1-1000's. These can be stage shows or a private reading of one person. Tricks range from memorizing a deck of cards order, reading your mind and moving object with your mind. If it involves the mind its probably mentalism.

Here is an example of how a card trick would be classified.
The Trick
The magician makes a signed card repeatedly come to the top after be placed in the deck.

First this would be called a close up trick

Close up
then it would be classified as card magic.
Close up card magic.
This particular type of trick is called an ambitious card routine
Close up
Card magic
Ambitious Card Routine
Then its given the name of its creator will use David Blane.

So it would look like this, "I saw close up magician performing card magic the other day. He did David Blaine's Ambitious Card routine."

Note: After the Ambitious Card Routine and Name it is sometimes broken down into its sleights and parts that make up the trick.

There you go now you know how to classify any type of trick have fun!

The Magician's Language

Hello everyone my name is Tyler and I am a professional magician this is my first blog so i thought i would give a list of beginner words for you to learn don't worry i kept it down to three new words for you so you wont take to long reading. =]

So do you want to look cool at the next magic show. Want to make the magician feel good next time you see one? Well now you can! Here is a list of a few words that will make you sound like a magic pro!

Do not call a magic trick "magic trick". Many people believe you are suppose to say illusion which is also not correct. Magician's refer to them as "Effects" or "Magic Effects".

Used in a sentence: (magician has preformed a coin trick) "Mr. Magician that was great coin effect."

When a magician preforms a difficult looking act whether it be shuffling or gambling tricks do not call it "amazing slieght of hand ". This is both silly sounding and incorrect because a slieght is a move that is done without the audience noticing. Instead say that was a great "Manipulation Act".

Used in a sentence: (after a magician has done a complex shuffle and still finds the aces) "That was an amazing Manipulation Act."

When a magician does a long series of similar tricks that are connected together do not say that one part of the act was really great. Instead say that was a great Routine. Routine means that you enjoyed the entire string of tricks that he blended together.

Used in a sentence: (a magician makes a spectators card rise to the top over and over) "Mr. Magician i really enjoyed that card routine of yours."

well that should do for my first blog well until next time.
